I don’t even know how to begin with this place. Definitely a top pick in the fine dining section. The coolest thing about this place is, well, the place! It’s actually underground, right underneath Canteen, the clubhouse. When you walk in, it’s as if you’re walking into a yacht. Even the windows have that trapezoidal shape with the wide white plastic rim. You seriously feel as if you’re in a yacht.
Now getting to the food. Sabrina knew the hostess and the maitre’d, and some other guy who I think was the manager. So the perks was a free amuse-bouche: tiny breaded crabcakes in a tartare sauce on a stick! I usually hate crab, but this was great because I wouldn’t have been able to tell that it was crab if the waiter hadn’t told me. Then, the hard part was deciding what to get. We asked for many recommendations and in the end decided to take them. We ordered the pre-fix sashimi/sushi platter which comes with 4 types of Sashmi (12 pieces), 4 pieces of Sushi, and 1 Lure House Handroll (8 pieces).
When the platter came, it was like the clouds cleared from the skies and the sun came out (I’m serious). I mean, my pictures of that platter were great! Truthfully, we could only identify the Salmon and the Tuna and had no clue what the other types of fish were. They were all extremely fresh. The Houseroll was also great. It’s actually just shrimp tempura and spicy tuna. Supposedly, this place is known for their sushi.
Next, we ordered from the appetizer list and decided to split the dish. We ordered the Soft-Shelled Crab fried in a beer batter served with guacamole, sausage, and an almond gazpacho. It came in two dishes and was definitely worth more than the $15 we paid for that singular dish. Anyway, it sounds like a really odd combination, but it was music in the mouth. The gazpacho by itself is way to tangy, but the guacamole mellows it out and the crunch from the crab just seals the deal. I wasn’t too keen on the sausage though. Regardless, I never eat crab and I couldn’t get over how great this dish was.
Finally, the best part- dessert! I ordered the Mocha Torte, which was our server’s favorite dessert. Sabrina got the Rhubarb Crumble, which was good, but not as good as mine. My torte was huge! It had three layers- a curst, creamy middle, and a frozen chocolate coating. Then they served it with a scoop of coffee ice cream. I can’t decide for myself whether the torte was my favorite for the soft-shelled crab.
