I have two favorite websites that I used frequently while I was in London. Both offer amazing promotions and are perfectly secure websites.

Restaurants:

  • Toptable.co.uk is the best place to get dining out deals in London. They’ll have anything from 50% off food, to 2 for 1 deals, to prix fixe meals. All you have to do is register, make a reservation, and give a credit card number as a security deposit (it only gets charged if you don’t cancel ahead of time). I found an awesome deal at a fine dining restaurant, Clos Maggiore in Covent Garden, for a 3 course prix fixe meal for only 19.95 pounds! They have both high end and low end restaurants so you a myriad of choices.
  • Lastminute.com offers just as many dining discounts. They even break it down to half price, top 10 dining deals, eat out under 15 pounds, etc… The greatest promotion that they offer is the “Eat and Play” discount where you can get a dinner and see a play for a cheap price. I took my friends who visited me to a dinner at Porter’s English Restaurant and then a play at Blood Brothers (worth seeing!) for only $20 pounds per person.
**Note: You’ll find that prices will differ depending on whether you order for “take-away” (to go) or “to-stay.” This is especially true for coffee shops and cafe where the difference can be anywhere from 10-20 pence.
Theatre:
  • Once again, I’d recommend Lastminute.com. They have a huge selection of theatre tickets and packages. They often offer tickets for 15 pounds to hit shows. I saw Wicked for 15 pounds, but it was pretty bad seating (I was in THE last row) but it was still great nonetheless. Also, sometimes when you walk out of theatres, you’ll find people promoting other shows. These free tickets are perfectly valid. I saw Afrika Afrika!, a circus for free after grabbing the tickets when I came out of the Wicked show.
