Cornish Bakehouse

This stand reminds me of Harry Potter. Maybe it’s the font on the stand, but anyway, about their pasties! Well, I can’t say that I prefer their pasties over West Cornwall’s, but they do have different flavors/varieties. If you have a very sweet-tooth, you must get a danish apple pastie. I think that thing might be loaded with more sugar than an apple-pie, but it’s sure tasty. Otherwise, you can just stick to the savory pasties. I’ve had the corn, broccoli, and potato vegetarian, which I’d give a 6 out of 10. Truthfully, maybe the first bite was an eye popper, but after that, it was just food. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was good. But, the thing is huge, dense, and full of carbs and butter. That thing probably has at least 800 calories! However, the original steak pastie is filled with chunky steak slices and and definitely a winner. You can get a smaller version of that so hurrah for portion sizing. The only problem with a savory pasty is you really want something sweet afterwards.

Pasties aren’t too expensive, but if you convert, they aren’t cheap either. The average pasty was around 3.25 pounds at Cornish Bakehouse, but at least they really fill you up. Of course, you can get much cheaper pasty at shady stands, but they’re definitely not as good. There’s a Cornish Bakehouse in Covent Garden and two on Oxford St. that I can think of on the top of my head.
