To some, rugby in Australia is the equivalent to football in America. This past Saturday, there was a huge match between Australia and New Zealand. Seeing as how all the pubs and bars would be playing the game, Jenny and I decided to get the ultimate game experience by following the crowd. With our chips and beer, we were set.

We arrived a bit early because we were afraid that there wouldn’t be any seats left, but luckily, we arrived just in time to grab some of the best seats. This is the place to go to watch a game. With multiple huge screen TVs, you can catch a good view of the game from anywhere in the bar. Watching rugby on TV is so different from watching it live. It’s much better on TV because you can actually see what’s happening. In a game like rugby where the point is to follow possession of the ball after players throw themselves on each other, the ability to zoom in on the action is essential. It was an intense game and Australia ended up winning, but not before New Zealand scored a couple of times to lead for a brief moment.

(Is it just me, or don’t the pitchers look smaller?!)

The chips at the Sports Bar are absolutely mouth-watering amazing. They’re crispy yet soft and potato-ey. They have just the right amount of salt and it goes perfectly with a beer, or cider that is. Being Strongbow fans, Jenny and I were ecstatic when we found that they sell it here too. We originally were going to split a pitcher, but somehow ended up drinking one and a half pitchers each…
