Australians apparently take their coffee quite seriously. I remember how an exchange student from UNSW once told me that the LC Cafe’s coffee tasted like “shit.” There’s no barista experience, no hand pressed expresso, and no love in the coffee in the States.

After our sunrise walk along Coogee Beach, we decided to stop for coffee at one of the small coffee shops right next to the shore. We chose Morning Glory. At around 7am, it was still fairly empty, but the workers were in full swing. I ordered a Latte while Angela and Jenny both ordered a Cappuccino.

Although I felt that my Latte was a bit too milky, I have to admit that there’s this certain quality you can definitely differentiate from the average Latte in the US. Of course, THINK COFFEE is a deviation from the norm, but you’d generally have to shell out $3.50-$4 for a Latte whereas here, it was only $2.80. If you think about it, how many coffee shops can you tick off in the States besides the obvious Starbucks? Unless if I’m in NYC, it’s difficult for me to even find a coffee shop that’s not a Starbucks. They all just keep dying out.

Even though it takes a bit longer for you to receive your drink, it’s worth the extra 30 seconds. I can’t wait to see if the consistency in their expresso holds on.
