Ah, the wonders of AKPsi. When an alumn (Alpha class) heard that I was in Sydney, he gave me a holler on Facebook and we met up. Unfortunately for him, I chose the most obscure place. I had only gone to Circular Quay a day ago and picked the name that stuck to my mind. Well what I had in mind was Opera Quay, but fortunately for me, Opera Bar also did exist (for some odd reason) and Eusang met me there in the lower concourse.
By Sydney’s winter standards, it was a warm night. I’d say it was in the low 50′s or so because I was shivering. We originally chose a seat outside where we faced the Harbor Bridge and had a side view of the Opera House. After awhile we relocated to under the tents where they had the heating lamps.
Now for the drinks- I didn’t want to order anything that would get me drunk off my ass (I needed to take the bus back) so I ordered a Malibu Pineapple. Eusang seemed content with his Gin and Tonic. I truthfully couldn’t even taste the alcohol in mine (no complaints) but for the price, it probably wasn’t worth it. Drinks were on Eusang, so I could only guess that the drinks were at least $12 since their cocktails started at $16.
I really want to come here again but for food. It’s really expensive, but that’s probably because of the spectacular view you get. Opera Bar is a long strip that has indoor seating as well as an extensive outside seating area. The bar is also surprisingly long- I’d guess around 12 ft? It’s beautiful at night under the stars when the bridge, Opera House, and the skyscrappers are all lit up.
