Just William Chocolates

Just William Chocolate

I think the prospect of fudge just lightens everyone’s day. I’ve actually never been a huge fan of fudge, but I’ve always been intrigued at how it’s made. The first time I saw fudge in the making was when I was in Baltimore at the Harbor mall. The fudge flew up and down, guided by the skilled fudgemaker’s spatula. It was a beautiful sight.

Last week, we decided to head over to Paddington, courtesy of the CoFA bus shuttles provided by UNSW. Walking along Oxford Street, we saw a tiny shop off a random corner who’s sign caught our eyes: “Just William Chocolates.” Any sign with chocolate is obviously a magnet for me and Jenny.

We stepped into the quaint shop and were surrounded by shelves of boxes, chocolates, and fudge. Fudge was the cheapest at $5 per 100 grams as compared to the chocolates, which were priced at around $10 per 100 grams. Hoping to save some money, Jenny and I opted to share a small bar of fudge, but unfortunately for our wallets, it was so good that after when we left the store, we turned back within 10 minutes to get our own piece.

For the quality of the fudge, I have to admit that paying $2.75 for a nice sized chunk (I’m guessing around 65 grams?) was definitely worth it. The fudge wasn’t at all chewy, but rather melted in my mouth and held together spectacularly. It was soft, but not too soft where it disintegrated in your fingers. I tried both the caramel and the chocolate fudge, and I ended up liking the chocolate better, but just by a little bit. I think I’ve become an official fan of fudge now.

Apparently, Just William has been around for 25 years and ships their chocolates and fudges internationally! They also cater so even if you’re halfway around the world and feel like splurging on a bit of fudge for a wedding or corporate gather, you can check out their site here. I’m really excited to head back there!

Awww… it’s so nice to read about these places. I’ve been living in Sydney for almost 3 1/2 years, but I never get tired of exploring and finding great new stuff to see. I hope you enjoy your stay here!

I love fudge, and I haven’t had many opportunities to try freshly made ones. Alas if only I could splurge on their fudge from their website..I see they also have animal shaped chocolates on their website..so cute!
