L’Arte Del Gelato

On a hot hot day, there’s nothing better than the feel of a refreshing smoothie, Italian ice, soft-serve cone, or in this case, gelato! I have a really big soft spot for ice cream in general, but I am generally not one to say no to gelato. I think my record is having 7 in a day (how can you resist when they’re only 1 Euro in Venice?)

So having gone to Grom already, I had some pretty big expectations. L’Arte Del Gelato is actually only a few blocks away from Grom, but it failed to meet the standards that Grom set. The gelato wasn’t all that special and if anything, it reminded me more of ice cream. When you have Grom’s gelato, you know it’s gelato. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for L’Arte Del Gelato.

BUT, if it’s a hot day and you’re just looking for something cool or you’re not picky, L’arte Del Gelato is definitely the place to go because it’s so much cheaper than Grom. It was $3.75 for 2 sccops whereas I forked over like $5.00 for a SINGLE scoop at Grom. All of the gelato is also gorgeously displayed just like in Europe.

I definitely recommend the Sesame, that is, if you’re into sesame. I think it’s more of an aquired taste, but I love everything sesame. Like sesame oil, sesame seeds, and now sesame flavored ice cream. But all of the flavors are quite delicious. I think it’s difficult to make a bad tasting gelato-flavor. If someone did, I think I’d have to congratulate them…

They give you two free tasting samples. The scoops are anything but perfect; alot of them come out lopsided and are threateningly close to toppling over. There are also 3 types of cones that you can choose from so if you’re up for some splurging, their homemade waffle cone looks mad yummy.
