Pumpernickel bread and Factory Nachos: Crisp Tortilla Chips Covered with Melted Cheeses, Guacamole, Sour Cream and Salsa with Jalapenos
You wouldn’t believe how many people were on the road today, let alone waiting for lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. A 30 minute wait?! I think the most I ever waited for dinner here was 30 minutes on a Friday night. But Angela has been craving nachos ever since we passed by that little Mexican restaurant in Tasmania, which was like a year and a few months ago. And then she saw pictures of the nachos from when I took Kirstie and Clement here when they first came to America. “We are getting nachos,” Angela declared in the car ride over.
So let us review what those epic nachos looked like and the Aussies’/Angela’s reactions.
Kirstie: “Are you sure that’s an appetizer?”
Clement: “Oh. My. God. !”
Angela (the American): “Those look really good!”
It’s okay, we don’t hold anything against you, Angela, because they WERE good. So we got another round today and they were just as good. Maybe the jalapenos weren’t as articulately placed, but, they were good.
Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich: Crispy Coated Chicken Breast Covered with Melted Cheese and Either Spicy Buffalo or Chipotle Mayo. Served on a Brioche Bun with French Fries or Green Salad (uh, but fries here!)
I’ve been to The Cheesecake Factory at least 10 times and each time I’ve either gotten a pasta or a salad. But getting a salad here is like asking for a Supersized diet cola at McDonalds because you’re just lying to yourself if you think you’re being healthy. Their Weight Watchers salads are 500+ calories so imagine what their regular salads are.
Instead, after some long deliberation, Gurpreet and I decided that since we both couldn’t decide between a pasta or a sandwich, I’d get a sandwich and she the pasta. I settled on the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. I have to say- I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t order the pasta. It was, in my opinion, a glorified crispy chicken sandwich. There was nothing special about it except for maybe the chipotle mayo, but even at that, the mayo was a bit on the light side. It wasn’t even spicy! (Okay, I’m known to down jars of hot sauce so maybe it was just me). But I think I’ll stick to my usual Thai Chicken or Spicy Chipotle pasta next time.
I’ve never been a fan of Shepard’s Pie, but apparently Angela is. It was one whopping large bowl and Angela couldn’t even kill a third of it. What a chump.
I really liked the Pasta DaVinci though. It’s a bit on the sweet side and the sauce reminds me of caramelized onions. I loved that combination with the mushrooms though. I’d consider getting this next time.
Stephanie’s Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake: Moist layers of Red Velvet Cake and our Original Cheesecake covered with our special Cheesecake Factory cream cheese frosting. 25¢ from the sale of each slice will be donated to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. (Oh boy!)
30th Anniversary Chocolate Cake Cheesecake: Layers of Our Original Cheesecake, Fudge Cake and Chocolate Truffle Cream.
So now for the most important part- the cheesecake! We asked our server, Matt, what his recommendations were and these two were on his list. I actually don’t recall them being on the menu the last time I came so I guess they’re new?
The favorite of the table went to the red velvet cheesecake. It was ridiculously good. It’s like having the perfect red velvet cake and perfect light cheesecake in altering layers. It might even beat out my usual favorite- their White Chocolate Truffle Raspberry Cheesecake.
The 30th Anniversary Chocolate Cake Cheesecake was also quite good but it was a bit too fudgey/chocolatey for me. If I liked milk, it would have gone great with a glass of one.
Of course, I don’t think I have to tell you that the service here is generally always good, and the hostesses somehow always figure out a way to put a smile on their faces. But our server today was exceptionally friendly. After watching Angela and me snap away, he asked what our maniacal picture taking was for. I told him about this blog and next thing you know, we’re talking about golf courses (I’ve never even played golf…), and then taking a picture with another server! I’m pretty sure our neighbors looked over and were like, “What the heck?!”
So Matt- thanks for being an awesome server!
It’s 9:25pm right now and I’m still full from our 12:30pm lunch. And so naturally, the healthy eating begins tomorrow!
**Thank you Angela, for taking some of those awesome photos above!**
